You Are Stealing Our Future: Greta Thunberg

My challenge here (and always) is to write as little as possible so the message in the video delivers the point. My purpose is to frame this speech made by fifteen-year-old Greta Thunberg at the United Nations.

After watching and reading about the Yellow Vests protesting in France over inequality and disparity between who is financially responsible to pay for our dirty air and water, I believe climate change inaction by world leaders may be the topic that brings the global community together against our corrupt governments and their corporate donors.

The United States pulling out of the Paris Accord was a monumental disaster with negative ramifications abounding everywhere. I can still see President Trump in California presuming the fires which destroyed entire communities were somehow caused by the “lack of raking the forest floor.”

He attributed the raking concept to a foreign leader who quickly came to the forefront to dismiss Trump’s ludicrous claim.

Climate change and the increase in weather anomalies around the globe are a real concern for the people, but not for our global leaders whose inaction is contributed to the lack of “political will” or “insensible”.

More honestly, the politicians refuse to stand up against their donors – they are cowards whose silence and inactivity has been acquired by those who profit from using fossil fuels.

Well, fifteen-year-old Greta Thunberg, a Swedish activist, has a message for all those cowards who errantly refer to themselves as “public servants”:

This sentence: “It is the sufferings of the many which pay for the luxuries of the few.”

And, this paragraph:

We have not come here to beg world leaders to care. You have ignored us in the past, and you will ignore us again. We have run out of excuses, and we are running out of time. We have come here to let you know that change is coming, whether you like it or not. The real power belongs to the people. Thank you.

Fifteen-year-old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg addressed the U.N. plenary last night in Katowice, Poland, condemning global inaction in the face of catastrophic climate change.
